NEW ORLEANS -- Drambuie Liqueur introduced a new premium expression, Drambuie 15, to the United States at the Tales of the Cocktail festival in New Orleans. Drambuie 15 is a refined, drier expression of Drambuie that brings Drambuie Liqueur's whisky cues to the fore. This is achieved by the careful selection of old Speyside malts with soft, complex fragrance and flavors to complement the aromas of the secret Drambuie recipe. The resulting drink is designed to appeal to malt whisky drinkers and is perfect for sipping and savoring either neat or over ice.
With a nose of Drambuie Liqueur's aromatic citrus spice, fragrant grass and butterscotch notes, Drambuie 15 has a velvet soft mouthfeel with a tang of lemongrass and warming malty notes, berries and heather. The finish of shortbread and fresh herbs retains the unmistakable long afterglow of the famed Drambuie elixir.
"To reach the high standards required for Drambuie 15, each individual cask is sampled and evaluated, with only the very best casks imparting the Speyside Malt characteristics being selected for use in the product," said Derek McInally, whisky stocks manager for Drambuie.
With a price point that exceeds that of Drambuie original, Drambuie 15 will appeal to existing Drambuie customers trading up, as well as to malt whisky experimenters.
"Many Drambuie fans are also frequent scotch buyers, particularly malt whisky enthusiasts. This exciting high-quality product, which emphasizes Drambuie Liqueur's whisky cues, is designed to appeal to their palate, as well as those new to our storied brand," said Cherie Koster, Senior Brand Manager for Drambuie.
"We have more than 100 years experience in laying down malt reserves to be used in the production of Drambuie. From these reserves we have hand-selected the very best rare 15-Year-Old Speyside malts to infuse with the elixir, creating a premium new product. It seems fitting to introduce Drambuie 15 during Tales of the Cocktail, where many of the most respected minds in mixology gather to celebrate the history and culture of drinking and dining," said Koster.
Drambuie 15 will be available nationwide with a recommended retail price of $56 (1 liter, 43% ABV).
