Tales of the Cocktail Names Most Spirited in the Industry

At Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, the 2010 Spirited Awards honored the best in the cocktail industry at The Roosevelt Hotel on July 24. The awards, sponsored by Pernod Ricard USA and hosted by Billy Harris, honored 15 individuals and establishments that advanced the craft of the cocktail. A judging panel of 30 of the world’s most notable cocktail experts selected the winners, who received awards from presenters including actor Bryan Batt from AMC’s “Mad Men” and Tales of the Cocktail founder Ann Tuennerman.

The Spirited Award Ceremony’s big winner was New York’s Death & Co., winning the night’s biggest awards: Best American Cocktail Bar, World’s Best Cocktail Bar and World’s Best Cocktail Menu. Charlotte Voisey of William Grant & Sons was honored with the Best Brand Ambassador award, Murray Stenson of the Zig Zag Café in Seattle was named American Bartender of the Year, Agostino Perrone from Connaught Bar of the Connaught Hotel in London won International Bartender of the Year and Brian Rea received the Helen David Lifetime Achievement Award.
