Sullivan University Offers New Beverage Management Degree

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Feb. 23, 2010) -- For those who have an interest in the art of cocktails or an appreciation for fine wine and beer, Sullivan University’s National Center for Hospitality Studies (NCHS) now offers an Associate of Science degree in Beverage Management. Courses for the beverage management degree are administered online, making the program accessible for students all over the country, and the entire curriculum can be completed in as little as 18 months. The program is directed by Albert Schmid, author of “The Hospitality Manager’s Guide to Wines, Beers and Spirits” (Prentice Hall) and “The Kentucky Bourbon Cookbook” (University of Kentucky Press)

The NCHS associate degree in beverage management is a specialized degree that makes graduates attractive to a niche market. The focused curriculum prepares students for such careers as beverage manager, bar manager/owner, sommelier or beverage sales representative. The course of study touches on key points like production, marketing, alcohol safety, food and beverage pairing, mixology, purchasing and storage. The NCHS prepares students for careers in the hospitality field by offering six Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Students can earn an Associate of Science degree in Culinary Arts; Baking and Pastry Arts; Beverage Management; Professional Catering; Hotel and Restaurant Management and Event Management and Tourism; and a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management.
