Diageoas Awards Raise the Bar

Diageo honored spirits, wine and beer distributors at the Seventh Annual Golden Bar Awards in July. The ceremony, which took place at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, honored Wirtz Beverage of Illinois with the Distributor of the Year Award in spirits; Atlantic Wine & Spirits, a division of Empire Merchants LCC in Metro New York, in wine; and Premium Distributor of Washington, D.C., in the beer category.

The Golden Bar Awards honor distributors and brokers from across the U.S., celebrating their work in the marketplace and their communities. At the ceremony, Ivan Menezes, president and CEO of Diageo North America, commented on the successful year the industry had despite the difficult economic environment. “What makes our winners truly spectacular,” he said, “is that they show all of us what we can do when we are at our best — even under challenging circumstances.”

Thirty-four Golden Bar Awards were handed out, recognizing spirits, beer and wine brands including Smirnoff, Captain Morgan, Guinness, Beaulieau Vineyard and more. For the full list of winners, visit www.diageogoldenbars.com.
