Diageo Raises the Bar

Diageo honored its spirits, wine and beer distributors with the Sixth Annual Golden Bar Awards. Reliable Churchill of Maryland received the Distributor of the Year: Spirits award, while Washington Wholesale – District of Columbia earned Distributor of the Year: Wine honors. Wright Wisner Companies was lauded with the Distributor of the Year: Beer award.

“We are proud to honor the best of the best across beer, wine and spirits, and our desire to pay tribute to them remains stronger than ever. Congratulations to all of our 2009 nominees and winners for their remarkable achievements,” said Ivan Menezes, president and CEO, Diageo North America.

The Golden Bar Awards honor distributors and brokers across Diageo’s brands, and other awards are given for innovation launches, control state excellence, distributor of the year and the Platinum Bar, which recognizes the best distributor in promoting responsible drinking.

Because of the challenging economic climate, Diageo passed on the regular formal gala event and instead announced winners online at www.DiageoGoldenBars.com, where a complete list of award winners can be viewed.
