Chain Beverage Buzz: Oct. 4, 2010

Patrick DroeschLone Star Steakhouse & Saloon and Texas Land & Cattle Steak House named Patrick Droesch as the new President and Chief Operating Officer. Droesch was previously the chief operating office, but in his new position, he will oversee strategic direction, operations and the future of the brands.


Centerplate has completed its acquisition of John Harvard's Brew House, the Boston-based restaurant group that originated in Harvard Square. The six-unit casual concept features brewpub classics and site-brewed beers that have medaled at both the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Championships.

Darden Restaurants may be in the market for concepts to acquire. Executives at the Orlando, Fla.-based operator of Olive Garden, Red Lobster, LongHorn Steakhouse and Capital Grille – the last two acquired in 2007 – pointed to acquisition as the means of achieving revenue growth going forward during a recent meeting.

NTN Buzztime and Native New Yorker restaurants entered into a multiyear agreement. Buzztime will provide the chain restaurants with access to their interactive gaming networks, and the Native New Yorker franchises will promote menu specials and sell advertising space on the Buzztime games. The program will launch this month.
