BarSmarts Adds New Programs

Pernod Ricard USA and BAR, LLC are adding on to the successful BarSmarts programs with a new requirement for the Five-Day Certificate Program, recently launched BarSmarts Wired and new BarSmarts Advanced programs in Denver and Boston.

Starting this year, bartenders who want to participate in BAR’s Five-Day Certificate Program, conducted once a year in New York, must first successfully complete the BarSmarts Advanced program. Establishing BarSmarts Advanced as a requirement for BAR, LLC’s Five-Day Certification Program emphasizes the “quality and integrity of our BarSmarts program,” said Steve Walkerwicz, vice president of trade marketing, Pernod Ricard USA.

BarSmarts Wired is also available. This 100% online version gives any bartender with interest in the craft the opportunity to become certified; the online course is open through March 31.

BarSmarts Advanced just launched its spring schedule for 2011, with live presentations in Denver and Boston in order to reach new professionals in the industry. The program is for committed members of the bar industry, culminating with BarSmarts LIVE, a full day of instruction, education, mixology, testing and formal certification for the top performers in each market and hosted by the BAR, LLC team of spirits experts including Dale DeGroff, Steve Olson, Doug Frost, F. Paul Pacult, Andy Seymour and David Wondrich.

“Every season brings us new opportunities to build upon the program and expand to new audiences. We are looking forward to getting our spring schedule up and running,” Walkerwicz said.
