At Issue: Industry Campaign on Ignition Interlock

Twelve states now mandate ignition interlocks for all drunk driving offenders, regardless of the number of previous offenses or BAC level. The American Beverage Institute (ABI) continues to speak out on this issue on behalf of the hospitality industry, in an effort to head off the march toward ignition interlock devices becoming standard equipment on all vehicles, which would prevent responsible consumers from enjoying a glass of wine or other adult beverage while dining out for fear their car won’t start. This is a major issue facing the on-premise business. Click here  to learn more about ignition interlock from ABI’s Rick Berman.

ABI’s next meeting is planned for October 14th in West Palm Beach, Fla., at which the group will present a communications campaign designed to inform consumers about ignition interlock. For more information, visit www.abionline.org or interlockfacts.com.
