Establishment Name: Hotel Indigo in San Diego’s Gaslamp District

Recent Gigs: Tietz worked her way around San Diego hotel bars before she landed her gig as bar manger at Hotel Indigo, a tending job she took in 2009. Before she moved to the West Coast from Boston in 2007, Tietz was a bartender at Boston Harbor Hotel for five years.

What’s in the Shaker: “Right now I’m all about creating refreshing skinny drinks for the summer. Low calorie, refreshingly local ingredients and they still pack a punch!”

What You’re Sipping & Why: “My spirit of choice is usually vodka, but I enjoy any handcrafted cocktails made with fresh ingredients.”

What You are Dancing to While Mixing: “I like all types of music. Behind the bar, I prefer dance music.”

Quirks & Quotable: “My favorite life lesson learned behind the bar is being able to read each guest and anticipate their needs. As a bartender of an upscale boutique hotel, you never know what type of clientele will come your way, so being able to make an impression to different people and personalities is inspiring and motivating to me."
