The production of handcrafted Gray Whale Gin, a Californian small-batch gin, begins with a base of organic grain. This is fermented and distilled multiple times before gin production begins. The organic base spirit is steeped with Italian and local juniper from Big Sur. Other botanicals—foraged along the 800-plus miles of California coastline in the migratory path of the Californian Gray Whale—are suspended above the spirit during distillation. These wild foraged botanicals include Sonoma fir, Santa Cruz mint, hand-harvested Mendocino Coast kombu, Baja limes and even fresh almonds from the Central Valley.
Gray Whale is committed to sustainability and protecting the world's oceans. Actor, adventurer, chef and Food Network culinary star Marsh Mohktari is the brainchild behind this craft gin, and the brand supports Oceana and 1% for the Planet. The bottle features a cork closure to eliminate plastics and other non-biodegradable items from the packaging, and the eye-catching blue paint is eco-friendly.
