Today, March 3rd is National Mulled Wine Day! The unofficial holiday that celebrates the splendors of hot spiced wine.
Now, you might be surprised that this holiday falls so late in the winter season but don’t let that deter you from reveling with some of these splendid libations.
Last-Minute Mulled Wine

1 half-bottle fruity red wine (such as Beaujolais or syrah)
2 oz. Bourbon or brandy
2 to 3 Cinnamon sticks
2 to 3 Star anise pods
1 long strip Lemon or orange peel
1 tsp. Sugar
Garnish: Cinnamon sticks
Glass: Mugs or punch cups
Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan. Cook over low heat until warm (do not boil), remove from the heat and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes. Serve in mugs or punch cups, garnished with cinnamon sticks.
