TAMPA, FL (July 28, 2010) – Bonefish Grill, the award-winning, polished casual restaurant specializing in market-fresh fish, wood-grilled specialties and a big-city bar, concluded its search for the “Best Cocktail Featuring a New Spirit,” at a head-to-head competition at Tales of the Cocktail 2010 in New Orleans on Saturday, July 24. In its constant pursuit to stay at the cutting edge of the bar industry, Bonefish Grill received entries from spirit entrepreneurs and brands alike. Ultimately, Square One Botanical spirit was named the winner and will now be featured in a cocktail on the bar menu at select Bonefish Grill locations.

Square One Botanical is an organic rye spirit infused with a striking blend of eight organic botanicals – pear, rose, chamomile, lemon verbena, lavender, rosemary, coriander and citrus peel. It was named the winner in a fierce competition of 13 semi-finalist brands pitching their cocktail to a panel of judges, including Merritt, Dale DeGroff, renowned mixologist and author of The Essential Cocktail and Francine Cohen, editor-in-chief of InsideFandB.com.
“It was such a treat to sample these creative cocktails with Dale and Francine, and I thank them for their time and commitment,” said Merritt. “Some of the best industry masterminds—such as Charlotte Voisey, Adam Seger, Joe McCanta and Diego Loret de Mola, representing brands like Stoli Gala Applik, Hum Botanical Spirit and Barsol Primero Pisco—received top nods in the final selections. Other favorites of the day were Death’s Door White Whiskey, Tres Leches Triple Cream liqueur and VeeV Acai.
