Beth Schwartz is the editor of elevate Nevada, a monthly cannabis magazine, that was launched in April 2015 by Elevation Publishing to foster the cannabis conversation in Nevada by providing a channel for connecting, educating, and offering an informed understanding surrounding the healing compounds of cannabis.
Schwartz has been at elevate from its inaugural issue and, in turn, has been instrumental in the development of the magazine’s editorial content from day one. With no prior experience in the cannabis industry, Schwartz has received a crash course in cannabis over the last three years to be a resource for both the Nevada patient and recreational user who is seeking to be informed about the healing properties of cannabis.
elevate’s most recent accolades include winning Best Magazine Cover and Best Website at the 2017 Nevada Press Awards (NPA). The winning cover was from September 2016 and focused on the U.S.’s opioid epidemic, showing a powerful image of a noose made from pharmaceutical drugs. In 2016, the magazine received 3rd place for Best Website.
Prior to starting elevate three years ago, Schwartz was the editor of high-end lifestyle magazine Luxury Las Vegas for 11 years, Las Vegas New Homes Guide for 12 years, and D-I-Y magazine polished for two years—all were owned by Stephens Media. During her tenure at Luxury Las Vegas, Schwartz received NPA awards for Best Local Column in 2011 and 2012, and Best Feature Story in 2014. Luxury Las Vegas magazine was also the recipient of NPA’s General Excellence award in 2010.
A graduate of West Virginia University, Schwartz has her bachelor’s degree in Journalism, and a master’s degree in Mass Communication from Towson University. When she is not touring cultivations, Schwartz is an avid book clubber, kayaker, and enjoys playing competitive catchball with area team, the Vegas Flames.
