marketwatch: premium beer sector set for further growth to 2016, according to just-drinks report
The global premium beer market is set for growth over the coming four years, according to a recently-published report from just-drinks.
The report, 'Premium beer in emerging markets - forecasts to 2016', says that total global premium beer sales are forecast to rise to 39.29m kl in 2016, from 34.02m kl in 2011, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.8%. With all the major brewers "convinced of the merits" of pursuing a premium strategy, the report forecasts growth in premium beer on "every continent" between 2012 and 2016.
The report also estimates:
European premium beer sales will show only "sluggish growth" of 1% per year over the next four years,
North America will also show "modest growth" of 2% per year over the period,
Asia is forecast to show the strongest growth, with sales expected to rise to 7.88m kl in 2016,
Premium beer sales in South America will also grow strongly, achieving a CAGR of 6% per year, and
Middle East/North Africa are expected to return modest but consistent growth to 2016, principally on the back of increasing market sophistication.
