Greater Boston Beverage Society Introduces Boston Cocktail Summit
The Greater Boston Beverage Society, Inc., has announced plans to launch The Boston Cocktail Summit, the first-ever city-wide cocktail event, on October 4-6. The event will be a three-day celebration of Greater Boston’s cocktail culture designed to highlight the city’s history of mixology; New England’s breweries, wineries and distilleries; and raise funds to help local charities.
The Boston Cocktail Summit will celebrate the culture of the cocktail with three days of events, parties, trade exhibits, educational seminars and galas with proceeds supporting the newly established Greater Boston Beverage Society and their 2012 beneficiaries The Lovin’ Spoonfuls, The Jimmy Fund and Share Our Strength. A consumer event that is open the public, The Boston Cocktail Summit will allow local enthusiasts to celebrate, commiserate, learn about and imbibe great cocktails. Mixologists like Dale DeGroff and Tony Abou-Ganim will dazzle with creative and classic cocktails, celebrated Boston chefs will prepare delicious cocktail dinners and local and international spirits authorities, such as Steve Olsen, Doug Frost, Brother Cleve and Dushan Zaric, will offer informative and educational seminars. Evenings will be filled with galas, parties, cocktail contests and more. The event will appeal to bartenders and mixologists, chefs and others in the hospitality industry, as well as cocktail lovers from all over the state.
Established in September 2011 by local mixologists Alexei Beratis and Jamie Walsh, The Greater Boston Beverage Society is a not-for-profit organization developed to preserve and promote Boston’s cocktail and hospitality culture and spirits history while supporting local and national beverage industry related charities. The Boston Cocktail Summit aims to promote and elevate the great food and beverage traditions of New England, offering a cocktail festival that is at once informative, educational, fun and quintessentially Boston.
