It’s the beginning of June, which means warm weather is upon us. Hopefully, this also means people are flocking to your bar for a chance to enjoy the summery weather with a summery cocktail. To capitalize on the excitement that people have from being out on the town sans winter coats, try some of the following drink recipes as specials at your bar, courtesy of the mixologists at Brown-Forman. Who knows, with any luck, they could become staples on your menu as people seek out summertime all year long.
Open House Punch
750 ml Southern Comfort (1 bottle)
6 ounces lemon juice
6-ounce can frozen lemonade
6-ounce can frozen orange juice
3 liters lemon-lime soda
Mix Southern Comfort, lemon juice, lemonade and orange juice. Add lemon-lime soda and stir. Pour into a pitcher or punch bowl with orange and lemon slices. Makes 16 8-ounce servings.
2 ounces Monin Habanero lime
1 ½ ounces Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
2 ounces Ginger Ale
Serve in a tall glass over ice and garnish with a lime.
1 ½ ounces Gentleman Jack Rare Tennessee Whiskey
2 ounces lemonade (not concentrate)
2 ounces tea
Splash of lemon-lime soda
Lemon or lime slice
In a mixing glass filled with ice, add Gentleman Jack, tea and lemonade. Roll contents, but do not shake. Pour into a highball glass and add a splash of lemon-lime soda. Garnish with a lemon and lime slice.
Woodford White Peach
1 ½ parts Woodford Reserve Bourbon
1 part white cranberry juice
½ part peach schnapps
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add ingredients and shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glass, and then garnish with a peach slice.
Berry Mist Lemonade
1 ½ ounces Canadian Mist
½ ounces Chambord
3 ounces lemonade
3 ounces lemon-lime soda
Mix the Canadian Mist and Chambord in a mixing jar, then stir in the lemonade and lemon-lime soda. Pour into a tall glass filled with ice and garnish with a lemon wedge or twist.
½ ounce Chambord
1 ounce Herradura Silver Tequila
½ ounce Tuaca
3 ounces sweet and sour mix
Shake ingredients and pour into salt-rimmed, ice-filled margarita glass.
Tuaca Vanilla Berry Fizz
1½ parts Tuaca
1 part gin
½ part fresh-squeezed lemon juice
½ part simple syrup
3 blackberries, muddled
Splash of club soda to top
Muddle blackberries in a shaker. Add all remaining ingredients except for club soda. Shake with ice and strain over fresh ice into a highball glass. Garnish with a mint sprig and a blackberry.
Tangerine Fusion Sunburst
2 ounces Finlandia Tangerine Fusion
½ ounce Cointreau
1 ounce fresh lemon sour
1 ½ ounces fresh orange juice
1 ½ ounces POM Wonderful pomegranate juice
Place ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well and serve in a Collins glass with slices of lemon and orange zest.
