Shaken and Stirred

Some prefer it shaken, others stirred. Either way, the Martini provides a hint of class and a storied history that makes it a popular drink for anyone looking for something different. With National Martini Day upon us on June 19, it’s time to celebrate the cocktail that became popular during Prohibition. Over the years, the Martini evolved as it continues to do. No longer are gin or vodka Martinis the only options. Add a splash of a liqueur or a light puree and you’re serving a drink that pays homage to the original, while also being an innovative progeny of its forefathers.

Pomegranate 'n Ice

1½ oz. Iceberg Vodka
3 oz. pomegranate juice
Blackberries, for garnish

Combine all ingredients in shaker, strain and pour into a Martini glass. Garnish with blackberries if desired.

Cascal Crisp-tini

1 oz. Midori melon liqueur
1 oz. vodka
1 oz. Bacardi Limón
1 oz. fresh lemon juice
1 can of Cascal Crisp White All Natural Soda

Mix the ingredients above and pour over ice. 

Wild Thyme

1½ oz. Beverage Artistry Thai Basil & Black Pepper blend
1½ oz. blueberry vodka
½ oz. elderflower liqueur

Shake with ice and strain into a Martini glass.

Nuts & Berries

1½ oz. Van Gogh PB&J Vodka
¾ oz. berry liqueur
¾ oz. milk or cream

Shake well with ice and strain into a chilled Martini glass.

Chocolate Peppermint Cookie

¾ oz. Partida Blanco Tequila

1 oz. peppermint schnapps

¾ oz. Godiva Liqueur

1½ oz. cream

Rim Martini glass with chocolate syrup and crushed candy canes. Shake ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into Martini glass.

2 oz. Camarena Silver Tequila
1 oz. lime juice
¼ oz. maraschino liqueur
¾ oz. ruby red grapefruit juice
½ oz. simple syrup
2 dashes orange bitters
Lime wheel and maraschino cherry, for garnish

Place all liquids in cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to blend and chill. Strain into chilled Martini glass. Garnish with skewered lime and cherry.2017

Pear Flower Martini
On the menu at Tommy Bahama Restaurant and Bar.

2 parts pear vodka
1 part St-Germain
¾ part scratch sour
¼ part Champagne or sparkling wine
Mint sprig, for garnish

Add all ingredients together except the Champagne. Shake with ice 20 times. Pour into a Martini glass and top with Champagne. Garnish with a mint sprig.
