Halloween is the perfect time to plan entertaining and outrageous events that bring the best out of your business. If you haven’t already decided on what you’re doing, try out some of these ideas from operators and suppliers, and consider implementing them into your celebrations.
Stone Rose Lounge is holding its second annual Fashionista Halloween Ball on Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. in New York City. The event, sponsored by Boutique Artists and Models, will feature a live performance by Jennifer Logue Band, music by DJ Uri Dalal, costume prizes and giveaways, Halloween party favors, food, cocktails and more.
Tabú Ultra Lounge at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is offering three Halloween cocktails for the weekend of Oct. 27-31. The sinfully sweet drinks include the Black Widow (Black Cherry Effen Vodka, simple syrup, fresh lime juice, Chambord), the Smoking Zombie (SKYY Vodka, Seagrams, Bacardi, triple sec, sour mix, Chambord) and Vampire’s Blood (ABSOLUT Berri Açaí, peach schnapps, pomegranate juice).
On Oct. 29, Chicago’s largest and scariest costume party, the Haunted Hotel Ball at Hilton Chicago, will be sin-sational. Entertainment includes music by pop singer Kat DeLuna along with live DJ sets from Starkillers, Mixin Marc and Ron Carroll. What’s more, winners of the costume contest receice a $1,000 cash prize.
Chicago is pulling out all the stops this year for Halloween. At Barrio Urban Taqueria, adults showing up in costume from Oct. 29-31 will receive 50% off any appetizers; pumpkin Margaritas will be available all weekend long, as well. Cocktail specials, including $8 Rosemary Ciders and $9 Pumpkin Spice Martinis, will be available at D’Noche Latin American Kitchen & Bar throughout the week of Halloween. Additionally, a dinner costume contest, with the winners chosen by D’Noche’s Facebook Fans, will be held Oct. 28 and Oct. 29.
One Lounge in Washington, D.C., is celebrating Halloween with spooky table service specials during its Haunted House Halloween Party. The specials include two bottles of premium vodka and Halloween candy for $300; for $350, guests will receive two premium bottles of vodka, a bottle of Spanish cava and Halloween candy. Along with the beats of DJ Blackbeard, guests can sip on “Witches Brew” cocktails for $5.
Lost Society, a boutique steakhouse also in Washington D.C., is all about the spooky cocktails. To celebrate Halloween, the bar is adding four specialty cocktails to its menu for the entire month of October. These bewitching drinks include the Blood Bag (agave, honey and orange bitters with a candy finger garnish), Killer’s Passion (Habanero water and passion puree), Lost Zombie (a sweet and tangy Bacardi mix with lime and pineapple juice) and the absinthe-infused Hallucination Sour.
At Sushi Rock in Arlington, Va., two specialty cocktails at $10 each will be satiating curious Halloween revelers for the entire month of October. On the menu is the Smashing Pumpkin, made with Cointreau and hot apple cider splashed into the core of a disemboweled orange, and the Helter Skelter, made with crème de cacao and Fulton’s Harvest Pumpkin Pie Cream Liqueur and shaken with ice.
If you want to spice up your Halloween party, add a few pumpkin liqueurs, spirits and beers to the mix, giving your beverage menu a unique flare. Need some ideas? Try Hiram Walker Pumpkin Spice Liqueur with its citrus, vanilla and graham-cracker notes and a sweet palate, or the creamy and sweet Fulton’s Harvest Pumpkin Pie Cream Liqueur. Flavorful Bols Pumpkin Smash and Pumpkin Pie Artisan Vodka also create unforgettable Halloween cocktails.
Pumpkin-themed craft beers also are a great complement to any witches brew on your menu. Saint Arnold Brewing Company is offering two beers just in time for Halloween: Pumpkinatorand Santo. Rogue Ales Dead Guy Ale and Double Dead Guy Ale will be available in 22-ounce Halloween bottles with glow-in-the-dark labels. Finally, the Dixie Brewing Company’s Blackened Voodoo’s malty flavors add a magical spirit to the already bewitching brew.
Heineken USA Inc., is holding its Dos Equis’ “Masquerade” 2011 Halloween promotion. The program offers consumers the opportunity to experience The Most Interesting Man in the World’s Masquerade through special offers, contests and concerts via Facebook. On-premise consumers will be treated to a fun-filled brand experience. At the end of the promotion, the top six consumers with the most points will receive one of The Most Interesting Man in the World masks.
