Celebrating National Tequila Day
A really good tequila can change someone’s life. And for spirit aficionados—those who appreciate the taste of agave and respect the Jalisco region of Mexico—tequila enhances all drinks. Its iterations—blanco, reposado and anejo—are all distinct, dancing on palates in a variety of ways and each with a special distinction. Mixing tequila with other ingredients can transform a mundane cocktail to the upper echelon of a drinking experience. With National Tequila Day right around the corner—July 24—it’s time to update your menu and honor a spirit that guests consistently crave.

1¼ oz. tequila
¼ oz. Cointreau
¼ oz. Grand Marnier
Juice of half a small lime
2 oz. Cascal Fresh Tropical Soft Drink
Lime wedge, for garnish
Add all ingredients into a mixing glass over ice, except Cascal. Shake hard. Strain out into rocks glass filled with ice and top off with Cascal. Stir gently. Garnish with lime wedge.

2 parts blanco tequila
3 parts Citrus iX Mixer
1 part pineapple juice
Moisten the rim of a rocks glass with a lime wedge. Coat the rim of the glass with sugar. Combine all ingredients over ice and garnish with a lime wedge.

1 oz. Culinary Traditions Cherry Puree, thawed
1 ½ oz. Corzo Silver Tequila
½ oz. Campari
1 ½ oz. ruby red grapefruit juice
¾ oz. agave nectar
¾ oz. fresh lime juice
Orange slice, for garnish
Fresh berries, for garnish
Add all ingredients into a mixing glass. Add ice, shake and strain into a tall glass with fresh ice. Garnish with an orange slice and fresh berries.
Cabo Wabo Colada
Served at ZOCALO Restaurant in Chicago.
1½ oz. Cabo Wabo Blanco Tequila
1 oz. Midori
½ oz. coconut cream
½ oz. coconut water
1 oz. limeade
Cherry, for garnish
Fill mixing glass with ice, add ingredients, shake and pour into a wine glass with coconut shavings and cherry garnish.
California Iced Tea

½ oz. Sobieski Vodka
½ oz. gin
½ oz. rum
½ oz. tequila
½ oz. Marie Brizard Triple Sec
2 oz. grapefruit juice
Pour first six ingredients into a glass over ice and top with cola.

1 ½ oz. Espolon Tequila Reposado
½ oz. lemon juice
1 oz. chile piquin-cinnamon syrup
2 dashes of Wormwood Bitters
Lemon twist, for garnish
Shake ingredients together and strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with lemon twist.

50 ml. Ron Barcelo Gran Anejo
25 ml. fresh lime juice
20 ml. brown sugar syrup
10 dashes of The Bitter Truth Celery Bitters
Lime rind, for garnish
Shake and strain into a Martini glass. Garnish with a lime rind.
