Museum of the American Cocktail Events
Upcoming Museum of the American Cocktail events include Audrey Saunders of New York’s Pegu Club in New Orleans June 7, speaking on “Gin…the Other White Meat,” and focusing especially on gin’s botanicals and various flavor profiles. Saunders will discuss which gins pair optimally with which cocktails and explore how to gain a better understanding of the complexities of gin and employ it in mixed drinks. Find more information here.
On June 10 at Washington D.C.’s Mie N Yu, William Grant’s Charlotte Voisey and cocktail expert Phil Greene will present the rummy “When It's Cocktail Time in Cuba.” Voisey will provide an overview of the rum category and specifically rum’s lighter style — brought to fame in Cuba — and its use in cocktails and punches. Greene will offer stories from the days when Cuba was America's favorite playground; during Prohibition, it was said that, "Havana became the unofficial United States saloon."
And pre-Tales, on July 19, Mixology Masters of New Orleans (Series 2), will share the stories of the bartenders who are reviving the New Orleans bar industry through celebrating the city’s unique cocktail lore and traditions.
