If it’s not Cupid’s arrow that adds to the loving atmosphere, then it’s certainly something else. And on Valentine’s Day, usually it comes in the form of a cocktail — a love potion that will entice the most enamored customers to your establishment. In fact, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to experiment with fun drink creations, testing the limits of your guests’ palates with unique mixtures. Certainly, a few red or pink signature drinks on your menu on this special day will be attractive to customers looking for sparks to fly.

Flying Hart
Created by Jacob Grier, lead bartender at Metronvino in Portland, Ore.

2 oz. Bols Barrel-Aged Genever
1 oz. Dolin Sweet Vermouth
¼ oz. Cherry Heering liqueur
2 dashes Brooklyn Hemispherical Fig Bitters
1 dash absinthe
Cherry, for garnish

Stir, serve up and garnish with a cherry.


Camarena KissCam Kiss

½ oz. Camarena Silver Tequila
½ oz. blackberry brandy
½ oz. lime juice
½ oz. grenadine
2½ oz. brut Champagne

Combine all liquids, except Champagne, in cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to blend and chill. Strain into chilled Champagne flute and top with brut Champagne.


Blue Ice Raspberry TruffleBlue Ice

1 oz. Blue Ice Vodka
¾ oz. coffee liqueur
¾ oz. raspberry liqueur
Fresh whipped cream
Semi-sweet chocolate shavings, for garnish

Shake with cubed ice and strain into Champagne flute glass. Float lightly whipped fresh cream on top. Top with semi-sweet chocolate shavings.


Hot Caramel Buttered RumHot Buttered Rum

3 oz. Ron Abuelo Añejo
1 oz. Van Gogh Dutch Caramel Vodka
¼ stick unsalted butter, softened
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. honey
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground cloves
½ tsp. nutmeg
Cinnamon stick, for garnish

Combine all ingredients (excluding rum and vodka) into a hot drinking cup or mug. Mix together with a spoon, then add Ron Abuelo Añejo and Van Gogh Dutch Caramel Vodka. Pour in hot water (1 cup or more, to personal taste) and stir vigorously until the mixture has dissolved. Garnish with cinnamon stick.


Milky Way Martini

2 oz. Van Gogh Rich Dark Chocolate Vodka
½ oz. Van Gogh Vanilla Vodka
1 oz. butterscotch schnapps

Combine all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and pour into a chilled Martini glass.


Spiced Vanilla Daiquiri

2 oz. BlackBeard Spiced Rum
¾ oz. lime juice
½ oz. simple syrup
3 drops pure vanilla extract
Lime zest, for garnish

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker over ice and shake until well chilled, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Zest lime over the glass to scent and garnish.


Sweet Seduction
From Maker’s Mark.

2 parts Maker’s 46 bourbon
1 part Thatcher’s Organic Artisan Elderflower Liqueur
10 fresh blueberries

Muddle the elderflower liqueur and blueberries together in a glass. Add ice and the Maker’s 46. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled Martini glass.


Pink PassionPink Passion

2 parts Pisco Portón
1 part pomegranate juice
1 part tangerine juice
Sugar to taste
Pomegranate seeds, for garnish

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a Martini glass. Garnish with pomegranate seeds.
