2014 Recipe File: Palpable Labor Day Cocktails
The first Monday in September is the working man’s favorite holiday! Labor Day is a day to honor the men and woman in our country who take care of their families and themselves by logging hours at their jobs all year long. Nightclub & Bar has gathered several palpable recipes that are sure to entice customers to reward themselves on this special holiday.
And for the bar professional, while there is no rest for the wicked, be sure to take a break for a cocktail to appreciate yourself and all that you have built. After all, this day is in honor of you!
Bitter Summer Zapatista
1 1/2 oz. Cabo Wabo Reposado Tequila
Beginning with Agave Nectar and pepper, combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain over fresh ice into tall glass. Garnish with long grapefruit peel.
1 1/2 oz. Herradura Silver
Mix all ingredients together and stir without ice. Pour over ice and garnish with a lime wheel.
Cutty Sark Sour
2 oz. Cutty Sark Prohibition Ediiton
Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain in to a Collins glass over fresh ice. Top with soda water and garnish with a lemon wheel
The Porch Sipper
1.5 oz. Smirnoff Sorbet Light Summer Strawberry
Build in glass over ice and serve.
Laphroaig Suntanned Scotsman
1.5 oz. Laphroaig 10-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Build over ice in a highball glass. Garnish with a slice of pineapple on the rim.
2 oz. Caliche Rum
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain into a rocks glass.
Spiced Cran Cooler
1 1/2 oz. Malibu Island Spiced
Build ingredients over ice in a Collins glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Rise & Shine
1 oz. Grey Goose L’Orange Vodka
Combine vodka, orange juice, lemon juice, pomegranate juice and ice into a cocktail shaker. Shake well and strain into a flute. Top with Martini Asti.
Black Cherry American Dream
1 1/2 oz. Effen Black Cherry Vodka
Cutty Sark Pear Cooler
1 1/2 oz. Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition
In a mixing tin, muddle the pear with honey and lemon. Add the whisky and shake. Double strain over fresh ice into a Collins glass. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a pear slice.
Kahlúa Root Beer Float
2 oz. Kahlúa
Build over ice. Stir and serve.
