2014 Recipe File: Hot Beverages with a Kick

As the winter months approach in the US, Mother Nature has no intention of heating things up any time soon. So, why not embrace it…with some toasty tipples.   

What better way to give in to the cold weather than serving up some hot beverages? Here Nightclub & Bar has provided you with some recipes for sippable hot cocktails with a kick to keep your guests satisfied and warm throughout the holiday season.

Babbo's Toddy

½ oz. Campari
½ oz. Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon
1 oz. Sweet Vermouth
¾  oz. Cinnamon Syrup*

*To make cinnamon simple syrup, bring 4 cinnamon sticks, one cup sugar and one cup water to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool.

Build ingredients into warm 8 ½ oz. mug and top with boiling water. Garnish with an orange slice.

1 ½​ oz. Partida Blanco
½ ​ oz. Coffee liqueur
4​ ​oz. ​Fresh brewed hot coffee
3 ​b​arspoons ​c​innamon & ​s​ugar ​m​ix
Heavy cream

​In a glass mug add Tequila ​and c​offee​, mix in the​ ​​cinnamon ​​sugar.​ ​Float Heavy Cream on top of the coffee.​ ​Garnish with a ​sprinkle of ​cinnamon ​sugar mix​ ​on top ​and​ a​dd​ c​innamon stick.

*note:​​ ​for ​cinnamon sugar mix​, in a bowl combine ​4 parts granulated white sugar ​and 1 part ground​ cinnamon.

Cafe Pacifico

Hot Frenchman's Punch

1 shot G'Vine Nouaison 
1¾ shots sweet, dark red wine/madeira 
2 shots hot water 
1 barspoon honey 
1 barspoon brown sugar 
⅓ shot freshly squeezed lime juice 
Half a grated cinnamon stick 
One sprig of coriander 
One “grate” of fresh nutmeg One “nail” of ginger 

Combine all the ingredients in a mixing glass or teapot and allow to steep for approx. 3 minutes Pour out through a tea-strainer into the glass 
Garnish: Cinnamon stick

Hot Frenchman

Amarula Coffee Surprise

2 oz. Coffee
2 oz. Amarula
½ oz. Brown Sugar
2 Marshmallows
Whipped Cream
Hot chocolate or coco powder

Pour coffee, Amarula, brown sugar and marshmallows in to coffee mug, stir. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle of chocolate powder.
