That’s Cajun for, “Let the good times roll!” Why? Because today, right now, at this very moment, revelers in New Orleans and other traditionally French cities throughout America are celebrating Mardi Gras. That means masks, costumes, dancing, parades and, of course, beads. If you’ve ever wanted to see an adult lose their mind over beads, just go to a Mardi Gras celebration.
Even if you operate a bar outside of NOLA you can celebrate the massive party that’s also known as Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday with your guests. The first Mardi Gras parade celebrated in New Orleans took place in 1837 so maybe it’s your turn to make it a tradition in your community in your bar. It’s fairly simple, really: get your hands on a ton of beads, plastic cups and fake dubloons, encourage your guests to show up with masks, costumes and leave their inhibitions at the door, and you’ve got yourself a Mardi Gras party. To take it a step further, order a king cake from a local bakery.
