¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo! Also known as El Día de la Batalla de Puebla, we celebrate the Battle of Puebla today, a skirmish that took place May 5, 1862. The Mexican Army defeated the larger, better kitted French Army which served as both a huge morale boost and a victory that slowed the French’s march on Mexico City. You may be surprised to know that celebrations of this holiday are regional throughout Mexico. It’s possible that Cinco de Mayo is celebrated much more throughout America. Also, today is not, as some people believe erroneously, Mexican Independence Day – that’s September 16 and is a far more important holiday in Mexico than Cinco de Mayo.

Cinco de Mayo in America is typically celebrated with the nation’s favorite cocktail, the Margarita. So, make sure your Margaritas are on point. Dial in your classic Margs, create signature versions that speak to your concept and work well with your menu, and promote across your social media channels. You should also be featuring and riffing on Micheladas, as their popularity is still on the rise.

¡Salud!
