Stretching Out and Helping Out

Late September marked the finale of a big-hearted promotional series at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Cabanas

“[Our overall expectation] was to give local charities a voice,” explains Rachel Wenman, marketing manager for N9NE Group at Palms Casino Resort. “And to help them draw awareness for their charity.”

To fulfill this goal, N9NE Group launched a repeating poolside event at Palms Pool and Bungalows called Cabanas for a Cause. For each weekly event, the resort promised its $100 cabana-rental charges to a different charity. The special parties assisted 13 charities, including Noah’s Animal House, a veterinary and boarding animal sanctuary on the grounds of The Shade Tree, a women’s and children’s domestic violence and crisis shelter in Las Vegas, as well as the Grant a Gift Autism Foundation. The charities benefitted from an event that posed little hassle for staff, required no beverage sponsor and meant a lot to locals in need. Guest DJs spun tunes for each event from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“The most we have raised for a Cabanas for a Cause event was $1,900 for Special Olympics,” Wenman continues. “I would say by the end of our season, we will raise anywhere from $17,000 to $20,000 our first year at doing this.”
