Feb. 6 – Birth Anniversary of Bob Marley

Bob Marley was born at Rhoden Hall in northern Jamaica on February 6, 1945. With his group, the Wailers, Bob Marley was one of the most popular and influential performers of reggae music. If your concept lends well to reggae, host a weekend celebration in honor of Bob Marley. Features island tiki drinks and rum punches along with Jamaican jerk chicken and other island inspired selections.

Feb. 7 – Super Bowl XLIV

This year’s game will be held in Miami. It’s sure to be a big draw for sports themed venues. Play up the funny commercials and hold door prize drawings each quarter to keep fans around. Feature plenty of ice cold draft beers and stadium-style foods. Create a V.I.P. area in front of your largest TV screen and draw names for guests who get to sit in the “best seat” in the house.

Feb. 14 – Saint Valentine’s Day

An old legend has it that birds choose their mates on Valentine’s Day. Now it is one of the most widely observed unofficial holidays. It is an occasion for the exchange of gifts (usually books, flowers or sweets) and greeting cards with affectionate or humorous messages. Create a special pre-fixe menu for two, which includes appetizer, salad, entrée and dessert. Suggest specific wine or Champagne pairings for each course and include heart-healthy menu selections. Give each couple a box of chocolates to take home with a special offer attached that can be redeemed upon their next visit.
