April 25, 2013

A federal search warrant was served to Twin Liquors on Tuesday, according to several law enforcement agencies.

Dexter Jones, an assistant chief with Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, said the agency is involved in a joint operation with other federal and state agencies at liquor stores' headquarters.

No further details were available from TABC since it's an open investigation. Employees said the agents arrived around 11 a.m. and told everyone to go home. Officers remained on the scene until late Tuesday night. A spokesperson with the FBI said personnel from their department were at Twin Liquors, but could not disclose why.

Yesterday, the Jabour family issued the following statement regarding the investigation.

"Twin Liquors is family-owned and operated and has been an active part of the Austin community since the late 1800s. We are the third generation to manage this company, which was built upon honesty and integrity. Although we haven't been told the reason for this investigation, we are cooperating fully with the agencies involved. We are handling this matter with transparency, respect for the agencies and confidence that this will come to an acceptable resolution. In the meantime, it is business as usual at all Twin Liquors stores. Thank you to our employees, customers, industry and the community for the outpouring of support."
