The Bahche, La Botaneria, Red Pepper, and More OpenSeptember 27, 2013
It's time for another edition of the Opening Report. There are multiple restaurants opening around the New York, so take a look!
1) Gowanus: A former warehouse in Gowanus is now The Bahche, a Turkish cafe with a massive outdoor courtyard. The restaurant serves things like hummus, tabbouleh, and a traditional Turkish breakfast platter, but you can also get a burger and fries. An employee tells DNAinfo that the place is meant for lingering, whether with a book or on a laptop. Status: Certified open. 191 7th St., Brooklyn, 718-422-0800.
2) Park Slope: Fonda's Roberto Santibañez just opened his new spot, La Botaneria, right across the street from the Brooklyn Fonda. It's a tiny restaurant, with just a few high tables and a menu of small plates to match. There are dishes like smoked trout salad and a Spanish tortilla, plus beer, wine, and cocktails. 3) Fort Greene: A bar called The Great Georgiana opened recently in the space that once housed the coffee shop Tillie's, a beloved old Fort Greene standby that closed a couple of years ago. The bar's owner, Australian music producer Dominic Tracy, tells DNAinfo that he plans to roll out a cocktail menu soon, and he will also hire a chef to serve "meats, cheeses, dips, quince paste, and small plates from all around the world."
