Milla Jovovich Becomes Campari's 13th StarJuly 26, 2011
Sesto San Giovanni, Italy - Campari announces Milla Jovovich as the latest star to take the lead role in the 2012 Campari Calendar, which will be captured by contemporary French photographer, Dimitri Daniloff. The versatile Ukrainian-born actress, supermodel, fashion designer and singer will become the 13th star to be featured in the world renowned calendar.
Milla Jovovich marks a return to female stars for the Campari Calendar, following last year’s first male protagonist, Benicio Del Toro. She will now follow in the footsteps of some of the world’s most stunning women who have adorned the pages of previous Campari Calendars, including Salma Hayek, Eva Mendes, and Jessica Alba.
Milla Jovovich has appeared on the cover of more than a hundred magazines and starred in numerous films including "The Fifth Element" (1997), "Ultraviolet" (2006), the "Resident Evil" franchise, as well as the forthcoming "The Three Musketeers" movie, which will premiere globally on October 14. Outside of acting and modelling, Milla has a passion for music having produced several songs and albums following her acclaimed debut as a singer, songwriter and musician with the 1994 release of "The Divine Comedy,"
On starring in the 2012 Campari Calendar Milla Jovovich said: “I was very excited and honoured when I heard that I’d been invited to star in the Campari Calendar. It is famous for its incredible photography and the amazing individuals who have appeared in it previously. I think people really will be intrigued when they see the finished Calendar. It will really make them stop and think.”
Dimitri Daniloff will become the latest photographer to capture the stylish Campari Calendar, for its 13th edition. Daniloff will bring his futuristic approach and ability to push the boundaries of images to create the unique photography that will make up the 2012 Calendar.
Dimitri Daniloff discovered his love for photography by chance while studying for a science degree when a friend gave him a camera as a gift. Having turned professional in 1998, he has travelled the world constantly working to find another subterfuge to dazzle people with. The Frenchman won a Gold Lion in Cannes 2003 with a Sony Playstation campaign and is exhibited by the Museum of Les Arts Décoratifs, Le Louvre, Paris representing the new generation of photographers.
Dimitri Daniloff commented on the 2012 Campari Calendar: “To photograph the 2012 Campari Calendar is an incredible and unique challenge. Campari has a history of pushing the boundaries of art and design and this can be seen from its advertising to product design to the previous Campari Calendars. This year I hope to have pushed these boundaries further still. The challenge has been made slightly easier by working with someone as talented and strong as Milla who has really helped bring to life the intensity and the intrigue of Campari in the images that make up the Calendar.”
Bob Kunze-Concewitz, CEO of Gruppo Campari, also comments: “The Campari Calendar is renowned for the powerful and passionate images of its stars. The inspiration and style of the images for the 13th Campari Calendar meant that Milla and Dimitri were both obvious choices. Each year we create something new and unique for Campari lovers, but this year I think we’ve pushed the creativity further than ever before.”
