Finalists Announced for the 5th Annual Kansas City Bartending Competition

The Greater Kansas City Bartending Competition was created in 2007 to honor the men and women bar professionals in the Greater Kansas City area and to encourage the best practices within the local trade. Beginning in 2010, the competition expanded to include a wider stretch of the Midwest. This year, we welcome competitors from St. Louis and Nashville, TN.

Here are the Top 13 bartenders selected as finalists in The 2011 Greater Kansas City Bartending Competition:

Organizers Doug Frost and Ryan Maybee are now aided by a committee made up of local bartenders from the Kansas City Bartenders Alliance. Presenting Sponsor is William Grant & Sons, and their brands include Hendrick’s Gin, Milagro Tequila, Solerno Liqueur and Stolichnaya Vodka, among others. We are proud to welcome guest judge Dale “King Cocktail” DeGroff to add his expertise in selecting the winners. There are many changes this year, including an audience vote via text message, live music in the Nowhere Lounge at Uptown, a live Burlesque performance, and a tasting room where all of the finalists’ drinks will be available to audience members. In addition, there will be numerous sample tables featuring locally owned businesses such as SodaVie and Original Juan’s. The atmosphere will be more interactive and “festival-like”. Food will be catered from some of the area’s best restaurants.

When and Where: Sunday, August 21st at the Uptown Theater 7pm, Tickets are $15
Who: The regions’ top 13 Bartenders and Mixologists, Live Music, sample booths, DJ, KC’s Best Restaurants
Prizes: $1000 for First Place, $500 Second, $250 Third.
