Delta Sky Clubs add Tequila Avión to Cocktail OfferingsJuly 13, 2011
ATLANTA – Delta Air Lines is adding World Spirits Competition winner Tequila Avión to its cocktail offerings in the award-winning Delta Sky Clubs, offering another benefit to Delta customers.
“Adding a stylish and delicious new spirit like Tequila Avión to the Delta Sky Club cocktail menu is just the latest step in a long list of enhancements we’ve been making to the premium customer experience,” said Wayne Aaron, Delta’s vice president – Marketing Programs and Distribution Strategy. “We continue to invest in the look and feel of the clubs, and the addition of Tequila Avión during special tasting events is a fun new element our customers will certainly enjoy.”
To celebrate the partnership, during the next few months select Delta Sky Clubs in Atlanta, New York at JFK and La Guardia, Detroit, Boston, Miami and Los Angeles will hold Tequila Avión Tastings where local mixologists will create custom Avión cocktails. Club bartenders will be specially trained by local mixologists to create fun new drink options using the award-winning spirit.

Avión translates to airplane in Spanish, French and other languages. Produced with fifth generation agave growers using the finest Blue Weber agave, Avión’s distinct production process results in a premium spirit that defines a new standard of quality and taste. Delta Sky Clubs will offer all three Tequila Avión products: Silver, Reposado (aged six months) and Añejo (aged two years).
The addition of Avión to Delta Sky Clubs is just one of many upgrades Delta has made to the Sky Club experience. Over the last year, Delta has introduced new Sky Clubs in Indianapolis, Philadelphia and renovated Sky Clubs in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Atlanta, New York – LaGuardia, New York – JFK and Los Angeles. Later this year, Delta will open a new Sky Club in Seattle and on Atlanta’s Concourse D, bringing the total to 54 award winning clubs.
With contemporary and updated ambiance, the refurbished Delta Sky Clubs offer customers full-service bars with complimentary beverages and snacks all day; new art featuring aerial photography of the region; personalized flight assistance; updated restrooms; satellite television; and a work zone complete with complementary Wi-Fi, cyber counters, desktop computers, wireless printers and additional charging options.
Delta's Sky Club investments are part of the airline's more than $2 billion investment in enhanced global products, services and airport facilities through 2013. In addition to improving Sky Clubs and upgrading its domestic fleet, Delta will offer full flat-bed seats on more than 160 widebody aircraft, feature personal, in-seat entertainment for both BusinessElite and Economy class customers on all widebody flights, and complete new terminal facilities for international customers at its two largest global gateways – Atlanta and New York-JFK.
