NCB Show Nightlife Kicks Off With a ‘Wow’

What does a Las Vegas nightclub do to impress literally thousands of peers and competitors who are ready to party during the Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show (NCB Show), held March 12-14? If you're TAO Group, you do what you've done for more than a decade: deliver top-notch service and show off so everyone can see precisely what has gotten you to the top. On NCB Show’s opening night, Spike TV's “Bar Rescue” Happy Hour at LAVO inside The Palazzo — sponsored by bevIntel — was jam-packed with industry professionals from across the globe; the TAO Group property certainly was up to the challenge of impressing guests.

The bar staff warmly and skillfully handled the influx of convention attendees, exhibitors and VIPs — such as “Bar Rescue” stars Jon Taffer, Chef Brian Duffy and Nancy Hadley, to name a few — eager to unwind after a day of setting up exhibition booths and attending invaluable educational seminars and keynote speeches. The Moroccan bathouse-themed venue embraced its desert oasis atmosphere and kept everyone in attendance well hydrated. Judging from all of the happy faces and the amount of networking going on inside LAVO, the intimate lounge, restaurant and nightclub handled the crowd of professionals extremely well.

The Palazzo's LAVO graciously hosted Spike TV's "Bar Rescue" Happy Hour during the 2012 NCB Show.


The next stop for NCB Show attendees on Monday evening was the spacious Octavius Ballroom at Caesars Palace. A multitude of smiling faces were eager to meet new people, trade nightclub and bar war stories and get in the mood to do some clubbing. The ballroom was tastefully appointed, featuring trees adorned with various colors of LED lights and a whimsical Nightclub & Bar Media Group logo ice sculpture. Several tasty hors d'oeuvres were on display for all to enjoy and many satellite bars were set up around the room, each featuring products from various NCB Show exhibitors, such as Heineken, Malibu Red, Wild Shot Mezcal and Ole Smoky moonshine. The crowd was having such a great time at Caesars Palace that groups formed and settled outside of the ballroom, in no rush to end the party.

The final stop of the evening was the Monday Night Platinum Party at elegant hotspot XS Nightclub inside Encore Las Vegas. XS is a beautiful venue inside a gorgeous property and has been one of the clubs dominating the Las Vegas nightlife landscape since their doors first opened. XS certainly embodies its acronym: Sculptures are finished in gold leaf, booths are covered in gold crocodile-embossed leather, the interior's main decorative element is a 10-foot rotating chandelier and the outside pool area is lined with private cabanas. The party had scored some major sponsors — Heineken, Don Julio and Rums of Puerto Rico — and everyone certainly seemed eager to take advantage of their products.

Judging by the crush of people chomping at the bit to get inside the 40,000-square-foot nightclub, it was easy to see this party was going to be insane. The bottle service line was just as crazy, a fantastic sign of things to come. Helping greet and manage the throngs of partygoers were the staff of Vegas Republik, a personal, independent concierge service serving as ambassadors to NCB Show attendees. Inside were more industry professionals who seemed rather impressed with the level of service extended to them. Again, it must be a daunting task to open your doors to critical peers and competitors, but if there was any ripple of nervousness the staff certainly didn't show it. According to the attendee the chatter the next morning, the Monday Night Platinum Party was a massive success.

The 2012 NCB Show slammed the ball out of the park with each of its parties, but Monday night set an energetic pace for the remainder of the show. The enthusiasm seemed to carry over into Tuesday, infecting everyone who had taken part in the indulgent festivities. In seemingly every hushed, conspiratorial conversation overheard in passing, exhibitors and attendees alike questioned, "Did you go to LAVO last night?" and "Were you at XS last night?" in animated and knowing tones, any leftover tiredness almost vanishing at the thrill and amusement of others' stories.

That excitement fueled the anticipation of Tuesday evening's Top 100 Platinum Party, hosted by Ne-Yo and Malibu Red at Nightclub & Bar’s 2012 Las Vegas Mega-Club of the Year, Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan. The shindig, in turn, created a massive buzz around the Wednesday Night Platinum Party, sponsored by MillerCoors, Wild Shot Mezcal, Street King and SX Liquors, held at TAO at The Venetian. This year, the NCB Show staff worked hard so everyone else could play hard; the venues in which attendees played picked up the gauntlet thrown down by their peers and more than survived — they flourished.
