Diageo Announces New Leadership for Open and Control States in USJanuary 18, 2011
Norwalk, CT - (January 14, 2011) - Diageo announced today the appointment of Mark Hubler to the position of President, Open States and Greg Armstrong to the position of President, Control States and National Accounts for the US Spirits division of Diageo North America. In their new roles, each will have full responsibility for the development and execution of the company’s commercial strategy for spirits in the US, with Mr. Hubler leading Diageo’s teams in Open States where alcohol is sold and distributed privately while regulated by the State; Mr. Armstrong will lead Diageo’s efforts in the 18 Control States that are directly responsible the retail and/or wholesale distribution of alcohol sales. Both will serve on Diageo’s North America Executive Team, reporting to Larry Schwartz, President Diageo USA.
Mr. Hubler has been with Diageo since 1999, and brings over 30 years of best practice experience from some of the biggest consumer product companies in the world including Coca Cola , Quaker Oats Beverages and Seagram. Most recently, he held the title of President, Control States and National Accounts, a position he was named to after several years of successfully leading the sales efforts for Diageo’s Mid South Region which includes Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Mr. Armstrong started with Diageo over 25 years ago, and since then has led numerous key initiatives, including most recently being the commercial lead on the successful re-engineering of our sales process. Over the past six years, Greg has delivered breakthrough performance as the General Manager for Diageo’s Central Region, which includes Minnesota, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
In addition to leading Control States and National Accounts, Greg will also represent Diageo as liaison to the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association [NABCA] and serve as a member of the Control State Industry Steering Committee.

Both Mr. Hubler and Mr. Armstrong will begin transitioning to their new roles immediately, and will be based at Diageo’s North American headquarters in Norwalk, CT.
