Pernod Ricard USA®, the premium spirits and wine company in the U.S., is proud to announce another great performance in the 2012 Ultimate Cocktail Challenge (UCC), including a ‘Chairman’s Trophy’ award in the Signature Cocktail Challenge, and a Finalist in the Classic Cocktail Challenge.
The third annual Ultimate Cocktail Challenge, which was held in New York City from June 4th-8th features two distinct and revolutionary competitions – the Classic Cocktail Challenge, assessing how well spirit brands perform in classic cocktails, and the Signature Cocktail Challenge, which evaluates how well spirit brands perform in the proprietary recipes supplied by the participating brand.
In the Signature Cocktail Challenge, PERNOD® Absinthe Supérieure was awarded the Challenge’s highest honor, the ‘Chairman’s Trophy/Excellent Highly Recommended’, for the ‘Pernod’s Garden’ cocktail. In the Classic Cocktail Challenge, Chivas® Regal 12 YO Blended Scotch Whisky was awarded ‘Very Good, Strong Recommendation’ for all three Scotch whisky cocktails (Blood & Sand, Rob Roy, Rusty Nail) and received a “Finalist” designation for the Rusty Nail. Olmeca Altos™ received ‘Very Good, Strong Recommendations’ for both its Reposado and Blanco cocktail submissions, while Becherovka® and Ricard® both received accolades of ‘Recommended’ for their respective Signature Cocktails.
“Our ultimate goal is to create high quality cocktails that compliment our brands and highlight their unique, premium characteristics,” said Steve Walkerwicz, VP Trade Marketing, Pernod Ricard USA. “The Ultimate Cocktail Challenge results have genuine meaning and authenticity and are a true measure of quality and versatility from the most respected experts in the industry. We are proud of this year’s results - another successful performance for Pernod Ricard brands at the UCC.”
