Tommy Bahama will be opening the brand’s flagship Restaurant & Bar (as well as retail space) on 5th avenue at 45th street in November. The upscale lifestyle brand known for its “Relax” philosophy, has announced the appointment of Chef Jason Michael Krantz as Executive Chef of its Manhattan flagship Restaurant & Bar, scheduled to will open its doors November 2012.
Located at the Fred E. French building on Fifth Avenue at 45th Street, the Restaurant & Bar on the second floor, will join the brand’s extensive collection of apparel, footwear, accessories and home goods that will be part of the brand’s retail store on the first floor of the building. Chef Krantz’ is currently working with the brand’s food & beverage team, headquartered in Orlando, to develop the menu that will debut with the restaurant in the fall. It will feature the brand’s specialty island-inspired cuisine and other items that will be created specifically for the competitive New York City restaurant market.
Chef Krantz joins Tommy Bahama from Danny Meyer’s Blue Smoke, where he served as Chef de Cuisine since 2007. A native of Long Island, New York, he pursued a degree in Culinary Arts from the State University of New York at Cobleskill. During his time at Blue Smoke he mastered the art of barbecue and creating signature foods, seasonings and rubs which he hopes will translate to those New York-specific items that will be part of the menu. His philosophy is based on quality ingredients and delighting his guests with excellent food and warm hospitality.
