Less than three weeks remain for amateur drink makers and professional mixologists alike to submit their concoction for the 2009 Ultimate Cocktail for a Cure Competition. The competition, which benefits the breast cancer foundation Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is open to submissions through Aug. 31. The finals will be held at the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas on Oct. 26.
Three divisions will encompass the competition: amateur, professional and Ultimate Bar Chef, which features a mystery ingredient and time limit for contenders.
Sponsors for the event are SENCE Rose Nectar, Hendrick's Gin, Absolut 100 Vodka, Grand Marnier, Milagro Tequila, Sagatiba Cachaca and Sonoma Syrups. All recipes must include SENCE Rose Nectar and at least one of the other sponsoring products.
Entries for drinks will be accepted from competitors worldwide. Judges for the first two rounds are spirits and mixology experts Tony Abou-Ganim, Tobin Ellis and Steven Olson. For the finals, judges include Gary Regan, Natalie Bovis-Nelson, Abou-Ganim, Olson, morning radio show host Steph MacKenzie and a surprise guest or two.
