Our pal gaz regan, who misses me only when others haven’t been covering his tab, would like you to know he’s thinking of someday soon holding weekend bar classes in New York City, focusing on bar philosophy, intuitive mixology and the real meaning of being a bartender. Let him tell you: “I'm guessing that, with a little help from the industry, I'd be able to offer two, three-hour classes, to be held over a weekend (Saturday and Sunday afternoons) for about $250. Bartenders would have to get themselves to the venue (yet to be determined, but definitely in Manhattan or Brooklyn), and if you're traveling from out of town you'll have to make all your own travel and accommodation plans.” Real Bartender Certification will be offered to graduates. The Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail has announced Sept. 20 - 27 as the dates for the Fourth Annual San Francisco Cocktail Week Celebration.
