A New Contender Changes Houston Nightlife

November 24, 2010 By: Jeffrey Yarbrough

Rice Village’s newest hot spot, Hudson Lounge, brings a whole new outlook to the club scene…literally. Owners and brothers Alexander and Adam Kliebert successfully bring the outdoors in with floor-to-ceiling windows, skylights and patio areas interspersed with indoor spaces at the new space, which opened at the end of October.

The Klieberts are experienced in the custom-home building business and it shows in the structural design and classy décor of the posh lounge.

Adam knew he wanted to create a place that had yet to be seen in Houston. Combining talent and hard work with inspiration gained through world travels, it only took seven months for the Klieberts’ dream to become reality. Aiming for a modern yet effortless 1960s Palm Springs vibe, the Klieberts added some outstanding features to Hudson, including white stucco walls, marble bar tops and massive custom-made glass and steel accordion doors at the front and back of the building, creating a natural breezeway. According to Adam, the club’s modern style appeals to a more sophisticated crowd and has been packed every night since its opening.

As for the building of the project, Adam says he rejected advice to do things on the cheap; instead he went all out. “I wanted to build a place I would want to hang out at,” he says. “It cost a lot of money, but I’ll eventually make it all back.”

Perhaps the secret behind the grandiose architecture is in the owners’ experienced background. Keep that in mind when hiring a contractor for your next groundbreaking project.
