After months of rumors, it’s been confirmed: Sankeys, originally located in Manchester, England, is expanding to NYC with Sankeys New York in early 2011. The 16,000-square-foot space is brand-new, situated in a former parking garage in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen area. DJ A-LUV will be resident DJ for the 1,100-capacity club, which will feature an impressive sound system created by Advanced Audio Technology and hydraulic LED video lighting. This is the start of what could become a Sankeys empire: Owner David Vincent says he has plans to open venues across North and South American, Asia and Europe.

Rehab at the airport? It’s true. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is bringing a Rehab airport kiosk to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, selling anything from summer apparel to limited-edition watches. The kiosk will have the look and feel of the Rehab cabanas and will be open through September. One special treat guests can pick up before heading over to the hotel: VIP line passes.

After claims of racial discrimination at Cleveland nightclub Lust, bar and club owners in the area will undergo training by officials from a federal prosecutor’s office to “properly intervene with patrons before police need to become involved” and to increase employees’ and owners’ awareness of anti-discrimination laws, the Plain Dealer reports. The club’s owner claims police, his landlord and neighbors target Lust’s patrons because a majority of the clientele is black. Police and neighbors have complained about the club’s noise and its patrons’ defiance of authority, and the landlord cites a breach of contract with the club’s lease (the lease states it would be a restaurant, not a hip-hop club), but mediation allowed the club to stay open as long as management hires 10 security guards.
