SMS Marketing for free - thoughts?
October 23, 2014
There's a bar in Washington DC that allows patrons to "subscribe" to text notifications - after subscribing, I get a text maybe once or twice a month from the bar, reminding me of pool parties, specials, events, or promotions going on. It's not very intrusive since I'm a regular and I want to know what's going on, but I'm not always checking their facebook or website so it's a way for me to get direct updates every once in a while. Their texts have gotten me and friends to go to events on many occasions.
I like this idea, and the application developer in me decided to build out an easy way for any bar to set this kind of promo channel up for free. All you do is:
1) Sign up and reserve a phone number
2) Share this number on your materials (receipts, brochures, menus, etc) - "Text this number to subscribe to updates from
3) Broadcast to all of your subscribers from the app
Subscribers can easily "unsubscribe" by texting STOP to the number.
What do you think of this? If you like the idea and want to see a demo (no signup required) - it's located at www.barpanel.com. If you do want to sign up, you can use the promo code PROMO2 while registering.
I'm trying to get a feel for how useful this would be to venue owners/managers - any feedback would be awesome. Feel free to email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org in case you'd like to run anything by me directly. Cheers,
