-So you are advertising on the radio, or you have a promoter that basically spread out the word.But is it a pre selected safe crowd? The answer is NO ! Radio music format is essential to the type of crowd listens to that station, but does not mean that the clients that your venue will get from the radio ads is less of a risk. There are so many safe ranking clients that might listen to hip hop music on the radio, so there are not guarantees.
-Hmmm... then we have the so called 'promoter'. what an experience that was for me. Most of them are wannabe promoters and there is no guarantee that they will bring in the crowd. And if they do, there is no guarantee that the crowd is the safe crowd that your venue desperately needs.

-Do it your self or with the help of your door staff.
-sign up with an SMS service. A good one with unlimited message offer and more is citytextin ( http://www.citytextin.com ).
-Print out small business cards with instructions how to sign up with your VIP textline keyword.
-While your door staff is working the door ( or yourself ), have them pre select the clients that you wish (minimum risk clients ). Hand them the card and offer them an incentive to sign up with your text line. For example, a FREE drink, or FREE cover at the door, or some type of discount.
Once they text your business keyword to a certain short #, then you have their phone # in your data base. You can start advertising with them directly on their phone. Believe me, it works. Those selected clients will bring some more friends if they choose to come to your venue. And the bad crowd will eventually wither away, since you are not really promoting on general public radio stations, or some promoter that will bring whoever, just to get your door $$$ .
