Bar Management & Staffing

How to make your Bar, Nightclub, or Restaurant a success

June 17, 2011

The Bar, Nightclub, and a restuarant is a social environment.  Which means people drink, have fun, socialize, TEXT, TEXT, and TEXT some more!!!!

1.  Management for a bar, nightclub, and restaurant has drasticaly changed in the past few years.

  • You need to build a team of the most compitent and popular people.  A supermodel bartender that has two good friends does not comare to a good looking bartender that has 100 friends!
  • Make sure your place has free WiFi. Why you ask?  Every person on this planet sends text messages to their friends.  Make it easy for them to text their friends so they can invite them to meet at you establishment.
  • Did you know that over 90% of your staff will either steal money from you or give away free drinks/food?  Discourage this practice by giving them a daily free drink givaway to the most popular clients to encourage them to come back.

2.  Staff need to be social butterflys.

  • It makes your patrons happy
  • It also helps to spread the word about your place to all of their facebook followers
  • If you found your 3 golden Staff people and can only hire one, then choos the one that has five thousand face book friends.

3.  Social Followers or lack of will greately influence your success.

  • Tweet, Tweet, and Tweet some more.  It's free and gets the word out
  • Facebook is a must!
  • You need a Blog. It puts your place out on the internet where prospective patrons can easily find your business.

If you want to success in opening a night club, there are some specific aspects that you will need to know. One of the first things you will want to understand is the importance of having a theme for your club. Your theme is what is going to determine your crowd and your crowd determines your success. Simply spreading some black paint on the walls and stocking the bar with liquor isn't going to draw people in and keep them coming back for more. You will have a lot of competition out there and your theme is what will make people choose your club over the other twenty bars they pass on their way to get to you. Most clubs/bars become successful because a certain group decides to make them a meeting place. For one club, I was involved in New York, we employed 25-30 models to show up at the club on various nights - very shortly, we filled with men, and then it just snowballed. Having good relations with the local newspapers and radio stations is also a must.

Here are few steps:

Step 1

Create a clear business concept for your bar or nightclub.

Step 2

Obtain a wide variety of alcoholic drinks to serve your customers.

Step 3

Promote your nightclub frequently and consistently. Even though you may eventually develop a regular clientele, you still need other customers coming in the door on a regular basis.

Step 4

Offer specials, discounts and promotions to help bring people in the door.

Step 5

Pay attention to the details of your business.
