Excel Tool for Financial Decision Making

July 30, 2014

I'm a finance professional by trade and believer that all good ideas start with a full glass. So it came as no surprise that when I started a consulting business, one of my first clients was an entrepreneur owner of a bar. His establishment catered to a younger crowd and he was challenged with pricing decisions given his average patron's penchant for penny pinching. I worked with him to develop a spreadsheet that would help solve this issue along with his other financial related issues, including ranking his drinks by profitability and keeping track of inventory to catch any potential over gifting or stealing of drinks by his bartenders.

Along the way, I realized that these are not challenges specific to this particular client, but rather challenges that are faced by many in your industry every day. Due to this, I'm reaching out to bar owners/operators like yourself . Rather than describing it in writing, I created a YouTube video to show some of its functionality. If this sounds like something that might interest you, here is a link to the video:

If you're not interested, please forgive the spam-like nature of this forum message. This method of proactively contacting business owners is not part of my normal business and I have not yet mastered (and likely never will) the ability to preemptively know which business owners would or would not be interested. If you are the latter, again please accept my sincerest apologies. And regardless of your interest, thank you for your role in keeping the culture and society of drinking patronage alive and well in this country.
