When it comes to the VIBE Conference, there are certain expectations. Undeniably, each year food-and-beverage experts bring unique perspectives on burgeoning trends in the industry, especially when it comes to networking and takeaways, and this year is no different. Workshops run the gamut from understanding social media to cocktail culture, and without a doubt, they're all must-attend workshops at the 2012 VIBE Conference at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas March 13-14.
Master of Wine Tim Hanni will introduce attendees to new strategies that will help them understand vinotyping, the unique psychophysical difference that shapes our personal wine preferences, ultimately providing a more intimate understanding of what generates sales and customers for life. Beverage expert Doug Frost will discus new wine trends, as well.
On the cocktail front, David Commer, President of Commer Beverage Consulting, returns this year to deliver two sessions. One is about creating classic cocktails with a twist; in the other he’ll moderate a panel featuring writer and beverage consultant Stephen Beaumont and beverage expert Frost as they discuss beverage trends in the industry.
When it comes to beer, Cian Hickey, Senior Sales Director-Draught at Anheuser Busch/InBev, will take on draft pouring, presenting a comprehensive study of the perfect beer system, while beverage consultant Beaumont will discuss beer-and-food pairings in this new beer-dining age.
Meanwhile, Kathy Casey, President of Kathy Casey Food Studios & Liquid Kitchen, will take a look at the alcohol-free segment, offering ideas on making housemade sodas to handcrafted treats.
Dave Henkes, Vice President of Technomic, will be hosting a seminar on growth trends in the hotel food-and-beverage segment while Warren Solochek, Vice President of Client Development at market research team The NPD Group, Inc., will delve into how and why consumers choose certain adult beverages over others. Additionally, Mike Ginley, President of Next Level Marketing, will sum all of this up in his discussion on 2012 on-premise consumer trends focusing on beer, wine, spirits and menu trends.
Additional speakers include: Jeffrey Whitlow, M.D., of Nutritional Information Services, who will discuss the impact of nutritional information disclosure laws on businesses. Those interested in learning more about social media can check out Dave Dronkers, Founder of Dronkers Beverage and Social Media Solutions as he leads a session with panelists Attorney Elizabeth A. Deconti; Roger J. Drake, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications of Morton's Restaurant Group, Inc.; and Paul Freher, Director of Media at Buffalo Wild Wings, as they discuss social media’s role in multi-unit on-premise organizations.
