Haitian Relief Efforts Supported
January 26, 2010 By: Jack RobertielloMany large and small restaurants responded quickly to Haitian earthquake recovery. Art and Soul and ArtBar in Washington, D.C., for instance, will feature A Drink for Haiti until Feb. 13. Made from Haitian Rhum Barbancourt eight year old, almond liqueur and oranges, the cocktail’s profits will be donated to the American Red Cross, and will support emergency relief and recovery efforts to help those affected by this tragedy.
Spirit companies are pitching in as well. Diageo has shipped food and emergency relief, and CombierUSA will donate 20 percent of all earnings from Jan. 20-March 1 to Doctors Without Borders Emergency Relief Fund for Haiti. (The orange peels used in Combier Liqueur d'Orange and Royal Combier come from Haitian plantations.)
