Rémy Cointreau USA and The Edrington Group Consolidate Relationship with Cutty Sark

May 19, 2011

New York, NY –  Rémy Cointreau USA, Inc. announced the company has increased the scope of its distribution agreement with The Edrington Group to exclusively represent the full range of the group’s renowned brand portfolio in the United States. With the new addition of the Cutty Sark Scotch Whisky brand, five spirits in total are represented, expanding upon the current four brands including The Macallan, Highland Park, The Famous Grouse and Brugal Rum. Cutty Sark will become part of the portfolio from June 25, 2011 when the contract with its existing importer expires.

The Edrington Group recently renewed its association with Rémy Cointreau USA, including Rémy Cointreau Travel Retail Americas, Inc. on January 1, 2011.

Paul Ross, The Edrington Group’s President Americas, says, “We are grateful to Skyy Spirits LLC, for their contribution to the brand’s progress over the last ten years, maintaining its market position in a very competitive environment. Cutty Sark remains a strong brand in the blended scotch category where it has the potential to grow further. Consolidating our Scotch whisky brands into Rémy Cointreau USA will make it easier to manage our brands as a portfolio and to gain share in this competitive spirit segment.”

The United States is the third most important export market by value for The Edrington Group. It is Cutty Sark’s third most important market after Spain and Greece; The Macallan is the second-largest selling single malt in the United States; The Famous Grouse and Highland Park are amongst the fastest-growing blended whiskies and single malts, respectively; and Brugal has recently been named a “Hot Prospect” brand, within trade publications.

“Rémy Cointreau USA is proud to establish a full and comprehensive supplier alliance with The Edrington Group. It is a privilege to serve as the exclusive partner enabling distribution of the group’s celebrated spirits brands in the United States,” says Suriya Parksuwan, President and CEO of Rémy Cointreau USA. “The prestige of the Edrington Group spirits range is ideally aligned together with the Rémy Cointreau USA portfolio of esteemed heritage spirit, champagne and wine brands. For over twenty years, the compelling market value of our portfolio has continually provided a powerful business advantage. We know the depth of our partnership will deliver superior results and profitability.”
