Wisconsin Faces Spirits Tax

October 21, 2009 By: Distilled Spirits Council of the United States

The Wisconsin legislature is considering a 58 percent increase to the state distilled spirits taxes. SB 66 will be considered by the Joint Finance Committee in the coming weeks. Now is the time to contact your legislators and ask them to oppose a tax increase that will increase prices for responsible consumers and damage the already Wisconsin struggling hospitality industry. Visit www.StopHospitalityTaxes.com to contact your legislators.

Editor’s Note: With the state legislatures and Congress back in full swing, we are pleased to resume bringing you breaking news and updates on federal and state tax threats, as well as other legislative and regulatory issues affecting nightclubs, bars and restaurants, from the Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S. in NCB First Round.
