Plan for Success in 2011

February 8, 2011 By: Donna Hood Crecca Night Club and Bar Magazine

With the New Year comes those pesky resolutions, well-intentioned declarations usually uttered in a bubbly-infused moment of clarity just after the stroke of midnight. By the end of January they’re usually a mere memory. Why is that? Well, New Year’s resolutions usually involve a rather fuzzy goal and an even fuzzier plan of action. Without a clearly defined goal and a razor sharp plan, any resolution is sure to dissolve as soon as it’s off your lips.

When it comes to your business — your livelihood — clarity is crucial. What’s your goal for 2011? Are you looking to expand your customer base? Cut costs and grow margins? Make your club or bar the hot spot in the neighborhood? Get revenue from an unused space? Want to master social media? Open a second or third place? All these are great goals, but do you have a clear-cut plan to get there?

Step one is to do your homework. Luckily, this issue of Nightclub & Bar offers countless nuggets of information and numerous resources for everything from maximizng beer revenues and outdoor “profitunities” to social media know-how and music programming tips. Be sure to hit up nightclub.com for more and, while you’re there, check out the Community page and submit an inquiry about your business plan to the Ask the Experts panel or through the NCB Forum, and register for our five free newsletters; the latest — NCB Smart Bar — launches March 1.

For in-person instruction, attend the Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas March 7-9. The conference program is full of real world experiences and advice from experts and operators, and the exhibit floor will be bursting with new products and services to help get your business where you want it to be in 2011. And of course, the nightlife will be second to none! Check out the details at ncbshow.com.
Start planning today for a great 2011!

See you at the bar!
