Top-notch Keynoters at VIBE Conference: Sally Smith & Keith HarrellOctober 4, 2010 By: Donna Hood Crecca
Two stellar speakers are lined up to take center stage at the upcoming VIBE Conference in Las Vegas, March 9-10, and each will leave you inspired and energized. Here’s a quick look at what they’ll bring to the podium. Mark you calendars today so you don’t miss out!
Keith Harrell smiles a lot, quite a lot, actually. That’s because he knows that attitude is everything. In fact, he’s written the book on exactly that. Life coach and author of Attitude Is Everything: Ten-Life Changing Steps to Turning Attitude Into Action, Harrell is a certified speaker, trainer and consultant who focuses on tools and strategies to fine-tune your attitude and meet any situation head-on with a positive frame of mind. He spent 14 years with IBM, becoming a leading sales and training instructor. An inductee into the Speaker Hall of Fame, Harrell is engaged by numerous leading corporations and will address the VIBE attendees on achieving and maintaining a positive attitude, and the impact of doing so on your professional and personal life, as well as those around you.
Sally Smith has certainly had a positive impact on her organization. The President and CEO of Buffalo Wild Wings will close the VIBE Conference, drawing on her 16 wildly successful years with the chain. Smith joined BWW in 1994 as CFO; at the time, it was a small operation of 30 locations, primarily in Ohio. She was elevated to her current post in 1996. Today, the chain boasts more than 680 restaurants in 43 states, with aggressive ongoing expansion plans. The chain continued on its rapid growth trajectory despite the recent economic downturn.
During her tenure, the concept was rebranded and evolved into the sports-wings-and-beer destination it is today; the menu expanded to attract more women and families, the installation of large-screen projection TV monitors to display sports events and trivia games now keeps them in their seats. She took the company public in 2003, and annual restaurant sales exceed $539 million on several years of double-digit sales growth.
Smith is recipient of the 2009 IFMA Silver Plate, and Technomic ranked the company third on its list of Top 10 Fastest-Growing Restaurant Chains with sales over $200 million. She is currently vice chair of the National Restaurant Association.
